Teammate Diego Sanchez weighs-in on Carlos Condit’s future in MMA

MMA veteran Carlos Condit has been competing in MMA professionally for nearly 15 years now. The former interim UFC welterweight champion unfortunately is in the midst of a 2-fight losing streak that saw him drop a controversial split decision to Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC 195 in a performance that many thought should have earned him the welterweight title, and most recently lose via first round submission to Demian Maia at ‘UFC Fight Night: Vancouver’ in August.

Prior to his fight with Robbie Lawler, Condit admitted that he was likely nearing the end of his MMA career, however shortly following his loss to Robbie Lawler, Condit took to social media to announce that he would be stepping into the Octagon to fight Demian Maia for “one more” fight.

Following Condit’s loss to Maia, it was revealed by his manager, Malki Kawa, that Condit had begun to experience adverse affects from repeated blows to the head, and numerous 5-round wars inside the Octagon, and as a result could very well be done fighting.

Now, in a separate interview, Condit’s JacksonWink MMA teammate Diego Sanchez has weighed-in on the former interim welterweight champ’s future, saying:

“I love the guy, he’s a warrior, and for the most part I think that it’s just that post traumatic stress disorder. When you go into a title fight, it’s your second time fighting for the title, he feels like he got robbed. He’s still reflecting on that. Then to go in and have the performance against Demian Maia. All I can say is, I hope he keeps his head up, and keeps doing what he’s doing.

If he really does have some serious problems with his health, then the best thing for him and his family is going to be to step away.”

Man, the guy, he’s got his stuff together and he’ll make the right decision. He’s a warrior, and in mixed martial arts, styles make fights, and that can happen to anybody.”

So far there has been no word yet as to when, or if, Condit will return to the Octagon.
