Cat Zingano eyeing rematch with Miesha Tate
At UFC 200 on July 9th, Cat Zingano will make her highly anticipated return to the Octagon against Juliana Pena.
For Zingano, the fight will be her first since suffering her first professional loss at the hands of Ronda Rousey back at UFC 184 in early 2015.
Ahead of her UFC 200 return, Zingano sees a potential rematch with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, who she defeated in 2014.
She spoke to MMAJunkie:
e a lot professionally, and just a lot more happened with losing my husband,” stated Zingano. “I learned a lot about myself through that process, showing myself what I’m capable of. … I needed to be happy to do this.”
“Before, I’ve always just had a ton of heart and a ton of will, which gets me through these fights, … but ultimately, as soon as the octagon door would close, I would just hit up instincts,” Zingano said. “This is one of the first fights I’ve gameplanned [for]. I’ve always kind of had an anxiety toward gameplanning, because I tend to just kind of switch into ‘go mode,’ and everything that we’ve planned just goes out the door.”
