UFC Boise Results: Chad Mendes stops Myles Jury in Round 1 (VIDEO)
A featherweight fight between former division title challenger Chad Mendes and perennial contender Myles Jury took place on tonight’s UFC Boise main card.
Chad Mendes entered tonight’s fight sporting an overall record of 17-4 but has not competed since December of 2015 when he was knocked out by Frankie Edgar.
Meanwhile, Myles Jury came in to tonight’s UFC Boise contest 17-2 at sum.
Round one begins and Jury pumps his jab early. Mendes is going to need to find a way inside against what is a much taller opponent in Jury. Myles misses with an attempted front kick to the face. He lands a follow up low kick. Mendes inches forward but it forced to back off due to a front kick. Mendes leaps in with a wild combination but neither punch lands. Jury with a low kick and then he goes high but that strike is blocked. Chad is really struggling to find his range early. Jury paws with his jab and then ands a low kick. He throws a right hand but Mendes counters with a left that floors Myles. Chad follows Jury to the ground and begins unleashing ground and pound. Jury attempts to scramble but he’s in all sorts of trouble. More shots from Mendes and the referee has no choice but to step in and call the contest.
