Chael Sonnen takes issue with footage of Mike Tyson’s “day 1” training session
Chael Sonnen is taking issue with the footage of Mike Tyson’s ‘day 1’ training session.
It was announced a week ago today that Jake Paul would face former world champion Mike Tyson in a boxing match on Saturday, July 20th at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which will be streamed live on Netflix.
Paul took to ‘X‘ with the following statement:
“My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”
Mike Tyson, sharing the news stated:
“I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a `kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT. It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him off on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”
With a 30-year spread between the 2 fighters, many are questioning why this bout is even taking place.
Mike Tyson shared, just yesterday, a short training video to ‘X’ with the caption:
“It’s day 1…the fun has just begun”
Taking to ‘X’, Chael Sonnen offered up his take on the video Tyson posted saying:
“In the future, if you’re ever going to spend five seconds hitting mitts, as a way of making the audience believe you’re doing a training session, make sure you splash water on your face and T-shirt first.”
Are you looking forward to seeing Paul vs. Tyson in the ring?
