The UFC 262 weigh-ins took place on Friday in Houston, Texas, and headliners Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira both made weight. Both Oliveira and Chandler came in at 155lbs, so both men officially weighed in at the lightweight championship weight limit for this vacant title bout. Oliveira has won his last eight fights in a row to earn this shot at the belt, while Chandler has won three straight fights including a KO over Dan Hooker in his UFC debut. Oliveira vs. Chandler is an outstanding fight on paper and serves as an incredible main event for UFC 262.

The main event features the vacant UFC lightweight title on the line as Charles Oliveira takes on Michael Chandler. Oliveira has won his last eight fights in a row and has been absolutely running through everyone on his path with relative ease. Chandler, meanwhile, knocked out Dan Hooker in his UFC debut earlier this year and overall has won his last three fights in a row by knockout. Both Oliveira and Chandler are two of the best lightweight in the world and this should be a fantastic matchup to determine the heir to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

UFC lightweight Michael Chandler revealed his ambitious plan of fighting Charles Oliveira at UFC 262 and then Conor McGregor at UFC 264. Chandler is currently set to take on Oliveira for the vacant UFC lightweight title in the main event of UFC 262 on May 15. Chandler recently said in an interview that, assuming a win over “Do Bronx,” he wants to fight McGregor by the year’s end. However, with McGregor now suggesting that his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 could be off due to Poirier bringing to the public eye McGregor’s non-donation to his charity “The Good Fight Foundation,” it’s possible that this fight could be in jeopardy. McGregor himself said as much on Twitter say, suggesting that he will be looking at other options for UFC 264.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier confirmed that he turned down a potential 155lbs title shot against Charles Oliveira at UFC 262. After knocking out Conor McGregor at UFC 257 in January, it was widely expected that Poirier would be in the next lightweight title fight after former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov retired and vacated his title. However, the UFC instead booked Oliveira against Michael Chandler for the vacant belt in the main event of UFC 262. That news surprised a lot of fans, who thought Poirier deserved the title shot. However, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Poirier turned down the title shot to fight McGregor in a trilogy. Considering how much money that fight is destined to produce, it made sense for Poirier to decline the title show in order to take the money trilogy fight against McGregor instead.
