UFC lightweight Charles Oliveira sent a message to Dustin Poirier following his upset knockout win over Conor McGregor at UFC 257. Poirier knocked out McGregor in brutal fashion in the second round of their UFC 257 main event. The win cements Poirier’s place in the upper echelon of the UFC lightweight division and nearly guarantees that he fights for the title in his next fight. Just who he will fight, though, is anyone’s guess. UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has still not made a determination either way, but all signs are pointing to Poirier getting another dance partner next.

Dan Hooker ended up taking the fight against Chandler and glad he did, but he took the time at the UFC 257 press conference to blast the Brazilian.

Oliveira has won eight straight fights in the UFC lightweight division, including a dominant decision victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 256. After defeating Ferguson, Oliveira called for a lightweight title shot. The problem is, of course, the division is currently in a holding pattern, waiting for Nurmagomedov to decide what he wants to do. The UFC lightweight champion is essentially retired but has admitted that he could be coaxed into having one more fight.

As for Chandler, he is set to make his UFC debut in 2021 after the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion signed with the world’s leading MMA promotion as a free agent this year. Oliveira is a ranked fighter and Chandler will soon join him in the top-15 of what UFC president Dana White says is the UFC’s strongest division.

Former interim lightweight champ Tony Ferguson has issued a statement following his unanimous decision defeat at UFC 256 to Charles Oliveira. Despite entering the contest as the betting favorite to get his hand raised, Ferguson suffered a one-sided defeat as Oliveira pretty much dominated the former interim champ for the full 15 minutes of the bout. Oliveira had the upper hand in the striking department and proved to be the superior wrestler as well, as he dominated Ferguson for 15 minutes en route to a unanimous decision victory. It’s eight straight wins in a row now for Oliveira, while for Ferguson the loss was his second straight defeat.

UFC president Dana White says that Charles Oliveira is “without a doubt one of the top three lightweights in the world right now.” Oliveira had a brilliant performance at UFC 256 this past weekend, as he completely dominated former interim UFC lightweight champ Tony Ferguson for 15 minutes. Oliveira has now won eight straight fights and is banging on the door of a title shot. The Brazilian said that he believes UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will stay true to his retirement after he was told he swore on his father’s grave, so Oliveira is now targeting the winner of UFC 257’s Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier.

The co-main event saw Tony Ferguson return to the Octagon against Charles Oliveira. In the end, Figueiredo and Moreno had an absolute war that ended in a majority draw.
