Uriah Hall says he would fight Israel Adesanya for free

Uriah Hall says he wants to fight UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya so badly that he would fight him in the Octagon for free. In his last fight, Hall picked up arguably the biggest win of his MMA career to date when he knocked out the legend Anderson Silva on Halloween. Hall is now riding a three-fight win streak overall, with victories over Bevon Lewis and Antonio Carlos Junior prior to defeating Silva. Hall is the No. 9 ranked middleweight on the UFC roster and he will take on former champion Chris Weidman in his next bout as he looks to get closer and closer to fighting for the title, a belt that is currently held by Adesanya, whose future at 185lbs is up in the air.

UFC middleweight Chris Weidman reacted to the recent UFC roster cuts, suggesting the promotion is cutting veteran fighters due to their pay. UFC president Dana White recently revealed that 60 fighters would be cut from the roster, and it started when former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva got the ax. Since then, other high-priced veterans such as Yoel Romero and Anthony Johnson were also let go. White has said the cuts have everything to do with performance and nothing to do with fighter pay, but not everyone is buying that. Weidman certainly isn’t.

Weidman needed a win badly and he did just that by digging deep and grinding out a decision over Akhmedov. It was the first win for Weidman since a July 2017 submission win over Kelvin Gastelum. The win over Akhmedov also snapped a two-fight losing skid that saw Weidman get knocked out in brutal fashion by both Dominick Reyes and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Prior to the Akhmedov fight, Weidman had lost five of his previous six.

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman says he was not happy with his performance in his unanimous decision win over Omari Akhmedov on Saturday. In the co-main event of UFC on ESPN+ 32, Weidman finally got back into the win column for the first time since July 2017 when he was able to grind out a hard-fought decision over Akhmedov. After a strong first round, Weidman began to fade badly in the second round and at times appeared to be on the verge of getting finished. But he was able to hold on until the third round. In the last round, Weidman landed a takedown and then dominated Akhmedov from top position on the mat to edge out a unanimous decision victory.
