The home of the Thunder receives a five-round main event between a top middleweight contender in the form of Hermansson and a former champion on the downside of his career in Weidman.

UFC Oklahoma City takes place Saturday, May 2 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The event marks the third time the UFC has visited Oklahoma City, the last event taking place in 2017. The UFC has not officially announced the headling fight. However, former UFC champion Chris Weidman is expected to take on top contender Jack Hermansson in a middleweight battle in the main event.

Askren announced his retirement from mixed martial arts on Monday following back-to-back stoppage losses to Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia. Askren said that the losses played a factor in his decision to retire, but ultimately it was injuries that caught up to him and he needs to have hip replacement surgery, which led to him hanging up his gloves.
