Cody Garbrandt: ‘I’ll knock anybody out in my division’
Prior to stepping into the Octagon to fight one another at UFC Fight Night 88, bantamweights Cody Garbrandt and Thomas Almeida both had never lost in their professional careers. Both of them knew that one would be walking out with a loss.
Garbrandt didn’t take long to determine who would have his hand raised, delivering a brutal KO that put Almeida out in the very first round.
“I’m the hardest hitter in my division,” Garbrandt said in his post-fight Octagon interview. “I’ll knock anybody out in my division. Dominick Cruz, whoever. I’m gonna be the champion.”
“I have the utmost respect for Thomas Almeida. 21-0 you know you don’t get that good,” Garbrandt said of his opponent’s impressive record. “He’s going to be a future champion as well, so I’m looking forward to future fights with him.”
