Cody Garbrandt has also suffered an injury and will not remain on the October 1 Fight Night card. Garbrandt was supposed to face Rani Yahya on the card but the Brazilian suffered an injury and a replacement opponent was sought after. However, on Tuesday, it was revealed by Dave Lockett, UFC senior director of public relations that Garbrandt also suffered an injury. The plan now is to rebook Garbrandt-Yahya for the third time.

Cody Garbrandt and Rani Yahya will no longer be fighting on July 9. Multiple sources inform BJPENN.com that Yahya has suffered a neck injury that has forced him to pull out of his fight against Gabrandt. At this time, it’s uncertain if the fight will be rebooked for a later date or if a replacement will be found. The main event of UFC Vegas 58 sees Rafael dos Anjos taking on Rafael Fiziev from the UFC Apex.

Chael Sonnen seemingly agrees with TJ Dillashaw’s criticism of UFC rival Cody Garbrandt. TJ Dillashaw has met Cody Garbrandt in the Octagon twice. In November of 2017 at UFC 217 Dillashaw (18-4 MMA) defeated Garbrandt (12-5 MMA) with a second round knockout, reclaiming his UFC Bantamweight Championship. Meeting again in August of 2018 at UFC 227, the result was much the same, Dillashaw finished Garbrandt via first round TKO, defending his crown.

Cody Garbrandt will be returning to bantamweight. After dropping down to flyweight at UFC 269, where Garbrandt suffered a first-round TKO loss to Kai Kara-France, the former champ will return to his old stomping grounds. According to MMAFighting, Garbrandt is set to return on July 9 against Rani Yahya. The location of the fight and the main event of the card has not yet been announced.

Henry Cejudo says he reached out to Cody Garbrandt to give him some advice amid his recent skid. Garbrandt is coming off a KO loss to Kai Kara-France at UFC 269 in his UFC flyweight debut. It was his second loss in a row and he is now just 1-5 since winning the bantamweight title back at UFC 207 in December of 2016. Out of those five losses, he has also been knocked out in four of them, so for Cejudo, he believes Garbrandt needs to get back to his technical self that he was against Dominick Cruz.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC 269 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier. The highly anticipated lightweight title fight produced one of the craziest opening rounds in UFC history. Dustin Poirier was able to drop Charles Oliveira on two occasions and appeared to be cruising towards his much desired title win. However, in round two ‘Do Bronx’ was able to score an early takedown and road out the round on top while dropping elbows. Then, in round three, Oliveira was able to take the back of ‘The Diamond’ and promptly locked in a rear-naked choke to finish the contest (see that here).
