Update: Cody Garbrandt vs. Matthew Kline Kader fails to come to fruition

By Tom Taylor - June 25, 2017

Over the last few weeks, the MMA community has watched on in bewilderment as bodybuilder Matthew Kline Kader and UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt engaged in a heated Twitter beef, and ultimately agreed to fight inside Team Alpha Male, Garbrandt’s home base in Sacramento, California.

Contrary to widespread doubt that this weird beef would actually go anywhere, Kader showed up in Sacramento earlier today. Through various posts on Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, the fitness star documented his arrival in the city, and his plans to storm Team Alpha Male.

While Kader assured he would soon be heading to Garbrandt’s gym, Garbrandt took to social media to explain that he’d been there all morning, and that there’d been no sign of his adversary.

Sensing that Garbrandt was attempting to call his bluff, Kader then shared a photo from right outside Team Alpha Male (though he was not actually in this photo, which led many fans to speculate that he wasn’t truly there).

Garbrandt then once again attempted to call Kader’s bluff:

Shortly thereafter, Kader posted on Snapchat, saying that he’d gone inside Team Alpha Male, that Garbrandt’s wasn’t there, and that Garbrandt’s teammates instead fought his battles for him.

From there, Kader’s live feed shows that he actually went inside the Sacramento gym, only to leave when he learned Garbrandt was on the way…

So there you have it. While Kader deserves some props (I guess?) for showing up at Team Alpha Male, he appears to have tucked tail and run. Looks like this fight between Cody Garbrandt and Matthew Kline Kader ain’t happening. Luckily we’ve got some legitimate mixed martial arts action to look forward to, as the UFC touches down in Oklahoma City tonight.
