Colby Covington reacts to ‘brittle b***h’ Tyron Woodley’s surgery news

By Tom Taylor - September 24, 2018

Earlier this month, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley said that he would happily accept a fight with interim champion Colby Covington at UFC 230 this November 3 — so long as he was cleared by doctors.

Unfortunately, we then learned that Tyron Woodley’s thumb is in pretty bad shape, and that he will need surgery as a result, which effectively rules out a fight with Colby Covington at UFC 230.

“I dislocated my thumb in the fight [with Darren Till at UFC 228] and by doing that I tore three ligaments,” Tyron Woodley told ESPN recently. “They are doing a shoestring surgery to provide more stability for my hand and minimize the potential arthritis.”

As you probably expected, the ever-outspoken Colby Covington was not impressed by this turn of events. The interim welterweight champion went off on the “brittle” champion in a heated reaction on Twitter.

“That brittle bitch fights 1.5 rounds in 14 months and needs another ‘surgery?’ Quit playing games Tyrone.” Colby Covington said of Tyron Woodley on Twitter. “You know whenever those nerds get done putting you back together, I’m just gonna tear you apart and end you for good. Accept your fate or be stripped of your No. 1 contender spot.”

While Colby Covington was expected to be stripped of the interim welterweight title when Tyron Woodley fought at Darren Till at UFC 228, the UFC rankings still refer to him as the interim welterweight champion. With Woodley on the sidelines, it will be interesting to see how the UFC uses Colby Covington. If he is indeed still the interim champion, we might see him defend that title in the meantime.

Who do you think will come out on top when Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley inevitably step into the cage together?
