Outspoken UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington has shared his initial reaction to the recent Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns fight. Usman, the UFC welterweight champion, fought Burns, the No. 1-ranked welterweight contender in the main event of UFC 258 on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Usman was dropped early in the fight, but ultimately rallied for a third-round TKO win to defend his title.

Colby Covington has shared a bold prediction for tonight’s Gilbert Burns vs. Kamaru Usman welterweight title fight at UFC 258. Usman (17-1 MMA) will be stepping foot in the Octagon this evening for the first time since scoring a unanimous decision win over BMF title holder Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is currently riding a sixteen-fight winning streak, which includes two successful defenses of his welterweight title, one over Colby Covington.

Mike Perry has offered to step up and fight Leon Edwards on short notice after his scheduled UFC fight with Khamzat Chimaev fell through. Edwards and Chimaev were slated to headline next month’s UFC Fight Night 187 event on March 13. However, due to a lingering illness, ‘Borz’ was forced to withdraw from the highly anticipated welterweight matchup.

UFC President Dana White says the promotion is working on a welterweight fight between top contenders Colby Covington and Leon Edwards. Edwards, the UFC’s No. 3-ranked welterweight, had been slated to fight the unranked Khamzat Chimaev on March 13. Unfortunately, Chimaev was forced out of that fight, leaving Edwards without an opponent.

During that impressive stretch the Brazilian has scored victories over Oliver Aubin-Mercier, Mike Davis, Alexey Kunchenko, Gunnar Nelson, Demian Maia and most recently Tyron Woodley.

With that said, ‘Chaos’ believes fight fans should be throwing their money down on ‘The Great White’, as Pettis is apparently “washed up” (via Instagram).

Masvidal and Covington, who used to be close friends and training partners, are now expected to square off in early 2021 with the expectation being that the winner will get another crack at divisional champion Kamaru Usman later in the year.
