Colby Covington has sent a message to Khamzat Chimaev. Chimaev has been the talk of the town ever since his debut on Fight Island in July. He had two fights in 10 days with two stoppage wins. He then knocked out Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 11 a card Covington headlined against Tyron Woodley.

UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje went off on the “coward” Colby Covington, saying the star welterweight he is a “fake person.” Gaethje and Covington were both recently invited to United States President Donald Trump’s rally in Nevada and there were photographs released of Covington putting his arm on Gaethje’s shoulder, which surprised a lot of people. Covington is one of the most polarizing figures in the sport today as he’s either loved or hated. Count Gaethje among the latter of those people, as “The Highlight” made it clear he does not like Covington.

Woodley (19-6-1 MMA) had entered the September 19 grudge match with Covington looking to rebound from a two-fight losing streak. In his most previous efforts, ‘The Chosen One’ had suffered unanimous decision losses to Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns respectively.

Covington was accused of racially insulting 170-pound champion Kamaru Usman when the two had a heated exchange after “Chaos” defeated his long time rival Tyron Woodley in dominant fashion. He also proceeded to go after the Black Lives Matter movement and called Woodley a “communist”.

Covington defeated rival Tyron Woodley in the fifth round by stoppage after his opponent verbally conceded the fight due to a rib injury. Covington looked fantastic in the fight as he was able to dominate it from the opening bell up until the stoppage. He needed to bounce back with a win like this after being finished via TKO by UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman in his last fight.
