Conor McGregor explains why Khabib Nurmagomedov was ‘good, not great’ in deleted tweet

Conor McGregor believes Khabib Nurmagomedov was good but not great as a fighter.

Nurmagomedov retired at 29-0 and is considered arguably the greatest lightweight of all time, as well as being one of the best fighters ever. He was dominant during his UFC run which included a fourth-round submission win over McGregor, yet for the Irishman, a variety of reasons hinders Nurmagomedov’s legacy.

“Good, not great. Low KO rate. Can’t kick whatsoever,” McGregor wrote (via RT Sport). “Never moved up in weight class despite almost dying trying to make weight. Pulled out of fights multiple times. Retired early. All of which lead him to a good fighter, not great. He’d a good few months, that’s it.”

McGregor then sent another tweet saying that Khabib retiring early also hinders his legacy, which is a stance some others have shared as well.

“He was a good fighter for those few weeks alright lol. Retiring takes you from all lists though. He retired and at the same time cried to be placed on one. It debunks your few tweets saying he is not about that. He should have kept quiet about Aldo. He is a fool now.”

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov were rivals so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see the Irishman take a shot at the former UFC lightweight champ. He also then explained that his legacy is set with him never missing weight or pulling out of a fight along with everything he did inside the Octagon.

“I never missed weight or pulled out once! And I ran through the division in the process. Finishing with the fastest KO ever in a UFC world title fight,” McGregor concluded. My weight rise was done flawlessly. We will disagree on legacy yet. As his one is already toast.”
