Over the weekend, the UFC announced that McGregor “relinquished” the UFC featherweight title, two weeks after winning the UFC lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. McGregor never released any statement or made a direct comment on the matter so many believe the featherweight title was stripped from him.
“The Notorious” stated at the UFC 205 post-fight press conference that he wants to take time off from fighting until his first child is born in the summer of 2017. McGregor also stated that if the UFC wants him to keep fighting for them, he wants some equity in the company. No news has been released on if those negotiations have begun or not.
