Conor McGregor gives first statement following retirement
Tuesday morning UFC featherweight champion shocked fight fans as he announced his retirement from MMA. While many initially believed that McGregor was trolling fans, and had no intention of actually retiring, his head coach John Kavanagh seemingly confirmed McGregor’s retirement.
Later in the day, the UFC announced that McGregor had been pulled from UFC 200 after refusing to do media appearances for the July 9th event.
McGregor, who is training in Iceland, was contacted by Visir for an interview. The featherweight champ responded simply with:
“No, I’m retired. Fuck interviews.”
