Conor McGregor reveals new two-fight plan which includes Nate Diaz trilogy
Conor McGregor is hopeful to fight two times this year, as he took to social media to reveal his new plan.
McGregor has not fought since July of 2021 when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier. Since then, he has been rehabbing and is getting closer to a return. He said back in December he would return in June against Michael Chandler in a highly anticipated matchup.
However, despite his claim, McGregor still does not have his next fight booked. Now, taking to his Instagram story, The Irishman revealed his plan is still to fight Chandler in June and then return in September for a trilogy bout against Nate Diaz.

“I wish for this on Mexican Independence Day in the sphere. Chandler June. Diaz September. I have let this be known,” McGregor wrote.
Nate Diaz did come out and show interest in fighting at The Sphere in September. If he does re-sign with the UFC, a matchup against McGregor makes the most sense, as the trilogy with Conor McGregor is something most fans have wanted for years, but it has yet to happen.
Although McGregor also says he will be returning in June in this post, UFC CEO Dana White recently came out and revealed he isn’t sure the Irishman will even fight again.
“If you had s*** loads of money, would you be sitting here right now asking me this f***ing question? No you would not. That’s just answered your question,” White said after UFC 298. “I don’t know [if Conor will fight in the UFC again]. Conor has got a lot of money. Anytime we get Conor, we’ll be happy, we’ll be thrilled when he comes and fights. Money complicates a lot of things. He just filmed a movie, he’s gotta do the press for the movie and he’s got obligations with that. He does wanna fight this year, but we’ll see what happens.”
Conor McGregor is 22-6 as a pro and coming off back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier. Before that, he scored a TKO win over Donald Cerrone. He is the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion and has notable wins over Eddie Alvarez, Jose Aldo, Max Holloway, and Dustin Poirier among others.
