Dana White responds to Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match reports
Friday had a lot of MMA and boxing fans excited as a report from U.K. tabloid, The Sun claimed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. would be coming out of retirement for a boxing match with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
The report claimed that it would be another huge payday for Mayweather, but would give the UFC champ a much smaller cut in comparison, saying that Mayweather would bring in $144 million while McGregor would get $10.1 million for the bout.
Kevin Iole of Yahoo! reported later on Friday that UFC President Dana White denied any boxing match was going to take place.
“It’s not true; it’s just a tabloid story,” White said. “And as far as I knew, Floyd is retired and he’s been on a world-wide vacation and hasn’t even been thinking of fighting.”
For now, it seems fans will have to continue to argue their cases based on their beliefs on who would win a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.
