Dustin Poirier reacts to potential Conor McGregor rematch!

By Christopher Taylor - December 1, 2018

Surging UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier was recently forced to withdraw from his highly anticipated fight with Nate Diaz, which was slated for UFC 230.

At first, the news seemed devastating for Dustin Poirier as Nate Diaz served as a former division title challenger with a massive name.

However, in a rather ironic twist of fate, Poirier’s untimely injury may culminate in the biggest payday of his career.

Following last night’s TUF 28 Finale main event, UFC President Dana White revealed his plan for the promotions stacked lightweight division.

The brash UFC boss told reporters that he will once again attempt to book a 155-pound title fight between current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former interim lightweight title holder Tony Ferguson.

The promotion has tried to book the undefeated Russian against “El Cucuy” numerous times in the past, but unfortunately the fight has never come to fruition.

In addition to Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson, Dana White also announced that he wants to see a rematch between former lightweight champion Conor McGregor and surging division contender Dustin Poirier.

The Diamond” and “Mystic Mac” first met in a 145lbs matchup at UFC 178 in September of 2014, with Conor McGregor emerging victorious via first-round TKO.

Since losing to McGregor, Dustin Poirier has gone 8-1 inside the UFC’s lightweight division.

As for the brash Irishman, Conor McGregor returned to the cage after a near two-year hiatus at October’s UFC 229 event, where he suffered a fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Shortly after Dana White announced his plans for the promotions lightweight division, Dustin Poirier took to Twitter where he reacted to the exciting news.
