Floyd Mayweather challenges Conor McGregor to fight in 8oz gloves
With less than a month to go until the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather superfight set to take place on August 26th, things have taken a rather unexpected turn in the form of details that need to be ironed out.
During the first stop of the Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour recently in Los Angeles, Conor McGregor stated that Mayweather was putting restrictions on the rules for eligible gloves for the fight.
Mayweather addressed those accusations in a social media post today, saying:
“Don’t believe what you hear in the media. Don’t believe what you hear on blog sites. If it’s not coming directly from me, then it’s not true. I’m telling McGregor, “Let’s fight in 8 oz gloves”. McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I’ll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves. Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate. Let’s give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see.
@grantworldwide
@mayweatherpromotions”
Given McGregor bringing the issue up in the first place, the odds of the lightweight champ firing back at Mayweather are extremely high.
Stay tuned for what could potentially be an epic response from ‘The Notorious’ one.
