While the war of words between UFC superstar Conor McGregor and undefeated prizefighter Floyd Mayweather has continued, Mayweather is now looking to get fans involved in the feud by offering up $10,000 to the person with the best caption for the video of Conor McGregor being choked out by Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

After McGregor lost to Diaz at UFC 196, the pair were scheduled for a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 200 in July, however McGregor was ultimately pulled from the fight for refusing to fulfill his media obligations for the event. This led to McGregor briefly ‘retiring’ from MMA, which resulted in talks of a potential McGregor vs. Mayweather boxing match.

While things started out as both men discussing the potential fight in interviews, talks progressed to the point that Fox Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd even announced the date of the fight. While ultimately McGregor returned to the Octagon in November for his rematch with Diaz, where he avenged his UFC 196 loss, which he followed up by a win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 to win the UFC lightweight championship, talks of a potential McGregor-Mayweather boxing match never completely went away.

With the “champ champ” currently on the sidelines for the next ten months due to the upcoming birth of his firstborn child, talks of a potential boxing match with Floyd Mayweather have once again picked up steam, with Mayweather even recently going as far as to say that he would slap McGregor on sight if they ever came face to face.

With all that being said, it’s no secret that the odds of the pair ever fighting are slim to none.
