Mike Tyson discusses Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather
While the general consensus in the MMA community is that fight fans are thrilled for the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match on August 26th, boxers, as well as boxing fans, are less thrilled about the fight, with Oscar De La Hoya going as far as to state that the fight could set boxing so far back that it may never recover. With that being said, that sentiment isn’t held by the entire boxing community, as Andre Ward has come out and stated that he believes the fight is good for boxing.
Despite that, many aren’t giving Conor McGregor much of a chance against Floyd Mayweather, including boxing legend Mike Tyson, who spoke in a recent interview, saying:
“I think it’s going to be fun.”
When pressed for whether or not he feels that McGregor stands a chance against arguably the most defensively sound boxer of this era, Mike Tyson stated:
“I don’t think so…”
Tyson of course isn’t the only notable name in boxing to count McGregor out of the fight, following the news of the fight being made official, famed boxing guru Teddy Atlas broke down the fight, going as far as to state that McGregor will look like a caveman without a club attempting to hit Mayweather through his nearly flawless defense.
With that being said, as UFC President Dana White stated on his live Q&A session following the fight’s official announcement, when two fighters step into the cage, or in this case the ring, anything can happen. With that being said, White also explained on the Q&A session that if anyone were to talk to Conor McGregor, they would understand that he wholeheartedly believes he can hand Floyd Mayweather his first professional loss.
