With “The Notorious” slated to take on Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title next at UFC 205, which takes place on November 12, there is a possibility we see the trilogy fight take place for the UFC lightweight title. McGregor even mentioned the potential lightweight title fight against Diaz in a recent interview with The LAD Bible. McGregor said, “there could be a potential fight maybe down the line for the lightweight belt after I win this one.” This all depends on if “The Notorious” can come out with his hand raised over Alvarez at UFC 205.

Their first meeting at UFC 196 was decisive as the Stockton scrapper was able to submit his UFC superstar rival in the second round of their UFC 196 match. In their second fight, the two pay-per-view kings battled in an exciting back-and-forth scrap that went the distance. Although Nate’s face was cut and bruised up from the strikes of McGregor, the Irish star was seen walking backstage to his locker room on crutches while Diaz proudly vaped a CBD oil pen during the post-fight press conference.
