It’s no secret that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor would have made quite a bit of money for his welterweight rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 200. Unfortunately for everyone in the MMA community, McGregor refused to fulfill his media obligations for the event, and was unable to reach a deal with the UFC. Ultimately, McGregor was pulled from the card, and the rematch with Nate Diaz was scrapped. While a recent report estimated that the UFC stands to lose nearly $45 million for keeping mcGregor off the card, veteran referee ‘Big’ John McCarthy revealed on his podcast that McGregor himself missed out on quite a bit of money.

Conor McGregor’s ongoing contract dispute with the UFC has taken quite a few turns since McGregor announced his retirement from the sport two weeks ago. The featherweight champ was pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations, and it appeared as though there was no chance he would be put back on the card. McGregor then Tweeted earlier this week that he was back on the card, leading to much confusion. The UFC then revealed that McGregor was not back on the card, leading to much fan frustration.

It is without a doubt that UFC featherweight Conor McGregor has all eyes and ears on him as the story of UFC 200 continues on to the next chapter. McGregor tweeted late Sunday that he and the UFC came to an agreement and was back on the UFC 200 card after being pulled off for refusing to take part in media obligations for the fight. The Conor McGregor and UFC 200 story continues on after “The Notorious” tweeted late Sunday that he was back on UFC 200. Monday came around and Dana White denied McGregor’s claim and stated that he has not been put back on the marquee card. McGregor was spotted getting on a plane, likely leaving Iceland where he has been training with his team. McGregor’s longtime coach John Kavanagh spoke on the MMA Hour on Monday and acknowledged that they were no longer all training in Iceland.
