Conor McGregor explains why Khabib Nurmagomedov was 'good, not great' in deleted tweet

Cole Shelton - December 6, 2021

Conor McGregor believes Khabib Nurmagomedov was good but not great as a fighter. Nurmagomedov retired at 29-0 and is considered arguably the greatest lightweight of all time, as well as being one of the best fighters ever. He was dominant during his UFC run which included a fourth-round submission win over McGregor, yet for the Irishman, a variety of reasons hinders Nurmagomedov’s legacy.

For McGregor, it was a devastating injury to suffer, but he has been working hard during his rehab in order to heal his injury and get closer to returning. While he isn’t going to be fighting again in 2021, obviously, we will hopefully see McGregor back in the Octagon in 2022 if things go well. And now we have a timeline for the possibility.

Conor McGregor admits he has been impressed by Michael Chandler: “Could well be today’s champion”

Adam D Martin - November 28, 2021

UFC superstar Conor McGregor admitted that he has been impressed by Michael Chandler, saying that he “could well be today’s champion.” McGregor took questions from fans on his social media on Saturday, and one of the questions that he was asked is what he thinks about Chandler. The former Bellator lightweight champion joined the UFC earlier this year and he has had three memorable fights in the Octagon thus far. In his UFC debut, he knocked out Dan Hooker at UFC 257 (the same card that McGregor headlined against Dustin Poirier). Chandler was then given a vacant title shot against Charles Oliveira and, while he lost via second-round TKO, that was also a fantastic fight. Then, Chandler lost a decision to Justin Gaethje at UFC 268, but the fight was an absolute war and Chandler’s stock arguably went up despite losing the fight.

It appears McGregor is also interested in the matchup, and there is a very real possibility that we see this fight sometime next year. Speaking on the Bussin with the Boys podcast, Chandler explained why he is so intrigued by a fight against his rival McGregor.

Adam D Martin - November 25, 2021

The hope is that McGregor will continue to make progress in his recovery from the broken leg and then return to fighting in 2022. When he does eventually step back into the Octagon, then his coach at SBG Ireland, Kavanagh, believes there will be no shortage of potential opponents.

Chael Sonnen calls a fourth fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier "a tough sell"

Adam D Martin - November 23, 2021

MMA analyst Chael Sonnen called a fourth fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier “a tough sell” for his return fight to the Octagon. McGregor and Poirier fought twice this year, with McGregor losing via TKO both times. Their fight at UFC 257 resulted in Poirier winning by second-round knockout with punches, but at UFC 264, the fight ended with McGregor breaking his leg. Since then, the Irishman has been out on the sidelines with his injury, but he is hoping that he gets the fourth fight when he returns to the Octagon. However, Sonnen believes that is going to be “a tough sell,” as he explained in a new video. As far as Sonnen goes, there is no reason to book this fight.
