Nate Diaz has shared his thoughts on what Conor McGregor did wrong in his recent TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. McGregor and Poirier met in the main event of UFC 257 last month, in a rematch of a 2014 featherweight fight that the former won by first-round knockout. In their UFC 257 rematch, Poirier evened the score, mangling McGregor’s lead leg with calf kicks, and stopping him with punches in round two.

Former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez believes that Dustin Poirier’s short sprints were the key that caused Conor McGregor to “panic” at UFC 257. Alvarez is the right guy to ask when it comes to McGregor and Poirier, considering he’s been in the Octagon with those two on three occasions. Alvarez, who is a member of the ONE Championship roster these days, is a huge MMA fan and despite not being in the UFC any longer, he’s always offering his analysis of the fights. One of those fights was the UFC 257 main event between Poirier and McGregor, which Poirier won by second-round knockout. Speaking to MMAjunkie.com, Alvarez gave his thoughts on the matchup and explained what Poirier did in the fight to pick up the upset knockout win.

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is once again calling for a fight with former two-division champ Conor McGregor. Dos Anjos and McGregor were briefly scheduled to fight in 2016. Dos Anjos, then the lightweight champion, was slated to defend his belt against McGregor, the featherweight champion, who sought to become the sport’s first concurrent two-division titleholder. Unfortunately, the fight fell through when dos Anjos sustained an injury. McGregor then accepted a short-notice fight with Nate Diaz, which he ended up losing via submission.

The first time they met, they fought at featherweight and it was McGregor winning by first-round knockout. However, in the rematch, it was Poirier who got the job done with a second-round knockout.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor admitted he overlooked Dustin Poirier because he was already thinking about a boxing match with Manny Pacquiao. McGregor entered the rematch with Poirier as a big favorite, but he suffered a second-round knockout loss when Poirier was able to finish him with strikes. “The Diamond” came into the bout with a great gameplan of using low kicks to slow McGregor’s mobility, only to wear him out and then eventually go for the finish with punches. It was an amazing performance by Poirier, no doubt about it. But it was also a big disappointment seeing McGregor receive his first knockout loss in MMA.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes Conor McGregor would probably sustain another loss if he was matched up with Michael Chandler. McGregor last fought in the main event of UFC 257 in January, emerging from a year-long hiatus only to be stopped by Dustin Poirier in the fight’s second round. That setback brought McGregor and Poirier to a 1-1 tie, as McGregor won their first fight by knockout back in 2014, but it still shrouded the Irishman’s future in uncertainty. Though he remains the sport’s biggest star, he’s now 1-2 in the UFC lightweight division, and is in desperate need of a victory if he intends to maintain his reputation as one of the division’s best fighters.

Bellator commentator Mike Goldberg parodied Conor McGregor’s “who da fook are you?” in a comical cameo from the former UFC play-by-play man. Goldberg was the long-time UFC play-by-play commentator and he now does the same job for Bellator. In a recent cameo, a fan asked Goldberg to talk about the UFC 257 main event fight between McGregor and Dustin Poirier, and “Goldie” made sure the fan got their money’s worth. Former UFC ‘champ champ’ Henry Cejudo took time to reflect on his accomplishments today, this while telling Conor McGregor to take notes. Cejudo (16-2 MMA) retired from mixed martial arts following his TKO victory over former bantamweight kingpin Dominick Cruz at UFC 249.  The win had marked Henry’s sixth in a row, as he had previously scored victories over Wilson Reis, Sergio Pettis, Demetrious Johnson, T.J. Dillashaw and Marlon Moraes.

Dustin Poirier’s wife Jolie paid a visit to Conor McGregor’s locker room immediately following the Irishman’s loss to her husband. Poirier and McGregor squared off for a second time in the main event of UFC 257, this after ‘Notorious’ had emerged victorious by way of first round TKO in their first encounter in 2014.

Before McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo, beat Alvarez to become a champ-champ, and boxed Floyd Mayweather, the Irishman fought often. His only source of income was fighting which made him hungry and motivated.

UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan was critical of Conor McGregor’s performance against Dustin Poirier, saying he looked “fat and old.” McGregor took on Poirier in the main event of last weekend’s UFC 257 and lost as a big favorite when he got knocked out in the second round. After a year away from the Octagon due to various issues, McGregor did not perform well against Poirier. Though he had a strong first round, his conditioning failed him in the second, and after Poirier’s deadly low kicks started to limit the mobility of McGregor, Poirier took advantage of it when he was able to back McGregor against the fence and TKO him.

Dos Anjos and McGregor were originally supposed to meet back at UFC 196 in March 2016, but dos Anjos pulled out of the fight due to injury. He was replaced by Nate Diaz, which led to one of the greatest moments of all time when Diaz tapped McGregor out. Instead of fighting McGregor in a money fight that day, dos Anjos instead didn’t get that fight, and then he lost his title in his very next outing in an upset to Eddie Alvarez, while McGregor and Diaz exploded into mega superstars.

Throughout McGregor’s career, he has been full of trash talk, but in his last two fights that have changed. However, the Irishman and Gaethje have still taken shots at one another, and many thought they would fight last year, but it never came to fruition. After all the talk, “The Highlight” says he loved seeing a loudmouth like McGregor get knocked out.
