Back in March, Conor McGregor announced his retirement from MMA. Many people believed it was only to keep him in the headlines and he would soon return to action. But, as of right now, there is still no word on if or when the Irishman will return to the Octagon. According to his teammate in James Gallagher, he believes the former champ-champ won’t return unless he gets what he deserves. What Conor McGregor  deserves, says Gallagher is a share in the UFC.

Yesterday, the UFC unveiled its new Apex facility — which includes a swanky new office for UFC President Dana White. Pictures of White’s new digs quickly began making the rounds on social media, and before long, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor was chiming in, expressing interesting in a meeting with the UFC boss. Anthony Pettis is set to take on Nate Diaz at UFC 241. But, that isn’t stopping his manager, Abraham Kawa from thinking of what could be next for the former lightweight champ. Kawa believes if “Showtime” gets past the Stockton native, a fight against Conor McGregor should be next on the agenda. “Even Conor fighting Khabib (Nurmagomedov), I don’t think that’s the fight,” Kawa said to MMA Junkie. “I actually don’t want to see that fight right now. Maybe after a while, yes. But right now I think Conor vs. Anthony is the fight. I’m looking at it as (if) Anthony beats Nate, and I think Conor is next on the horizon.”

As the UFC’s lightweight championship picture continues to take shape, the road back to the Octagon for former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor also seems to be taking shape. Back in March while doing a Q&A with fans McGregor said he feels he owes it to Nate Diaz to have a trilogy fight, but that idea was recently shut down by Diaz himself. When Conor McGregor does decide to return his head coach John Kavanagh has a preference as to what opponent he wants his fighter to face first, and it’s the trilogy fight with Nate Diaz. Speaking to Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Kavanagh spoke about his preference wanting Diaz as McGregor’s next opponent, saying it’s something he’s wanted for a while.

Boxing champion Regis Prograis has issued a challenge to Conor McGregor, this after ‘Notorious’ called out his manager Mark Wahlberg. Regis Prograis, who holds the WBA light welterweight title and sports a perfect professional record of 24-0 (20 KO’s), took offense to McGregor’s call out of the actor, who just so happens to be his co-manager.

This weekend, heavyweight boxing star Tyson Fury will return to the ring to take on Germany’s Tom Schwarz. The Brit will do so with the full confidence of two of the UFC’s biggest stars: Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor praised Tyson Fury first, calling him the No. 1 heavyweight boxer in a recent Twitter post.

Late last week, pop star Justin Bieber took to Twitter to call for a fight with Hollywood actor Tom Cruise. Normally, this kind of stuff would not make it onto MMA news sites. But when Bieber asked Dana White and the UFC to promote the fight, and UFC star Conor McGregor promptly chimed in and offered to promote the celebrity showdown himself, this weird storyline seeped into the collective consciousness of the MMA community. White says McGregor is simply waiting on the sidelines until the lightweight contendership picture becomes a little bit clearer.

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has once again earned a spot on Forbes’ list of highest paid athletes in the world. The Irish MMA star didn’t place in the top-10 this year, instead coming at No.21 with $47M in earnings. McGregor’s former opponent and long-time rival Floyd Mayweather, who held the No.1 spot last year, has vanished from the list all together. The top spot is now occupied by Lionel Messi, while other names in the top-10 include Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Canelo Alvarez, Roger Federer, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Lebron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry. No other UFC fighters appear on the list, though boxers like Gennady Golovkin, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder do.

Hours after bookmakers released the odds for a potential MMA fight between pop star Justin Bieber and Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, we now have have the odds for a potential fight between former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor and actor Mark Wahlberg. And, well… they’re baffling. The online sportsbook BetOnline has seemingly pegged Conor McGregor, one of the most accomplished mixed martial artists of all time, as a mere -500 favorite against the untrained actor. Wahlberg, meanwhile, has been identified as a +300 underdog.

UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov recently inked a new and lucrative contract with the UFC, and is now scheduled to return to the cage opposite interim champ Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 on September 7. Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Nurmagomedov revealed that he’s already begun training for this bout. He also added that he still has ‘lots of fights’ left in his career, and that what was started on October 6 — the date of his blockbuster defeat of Conor McGregor — is not yet finished.

Although it sounds like Dana White and the UFC might pursue an immediate rematch between Tony Ferguson and Donald Cerrone, Ferguson himself is looking ahead to other challenges. Speaking at the UFC 238 post-fight press conference, the streaking contender once again called for a title fight with the man he calls “Tiramisu,” Khabib Nurmagomedov. He and the Russian champion have been scheduled to fight four times previously to no avail.

The UFC boss explained that McGregor’s massive financial success is allowing him to sit back wait for the right moment to return. Earlier this year, however, Cerrone was linked to a potential showdown with former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor — a bout that many fans are still dying to see. Speaking during a recent media scrum in Chicago, Cerrone made his preference very clear. He’s gunning for a title shot, and says Conor McGregor missed his chance.
