PHOTOS | Conor McGregor is focused on his wrestling ahead of UFC 205
Conor McGregor is busy preparing for his upcoming 155-pound title fight with current UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
McGregor and Alvarez will meet in the headlining bout of UFC 205 on November 12, which takes place inside New York’s historic Madison Square Garden arena.
Most fans and analysts believe that Eddie Alvarez will look to utilize his wrestling abilities to defeat the brash Irishman at the blockbuster event.
With that said, Conor McGregor is already focusing on his wrestling skills for the highly anticipated super-fight. “Mystic Mac” posted the following photos to his Instagram, one with the caption “I am a master at this entire game.”
The current UFC featherweight champion has had some trouble with wrestlers in the past. McGregor was taken down on multiple occasions by Chad Mendes in the first-round of their scrap at UFC 189, but ultimately prevailed and was able to TKO “Money” in the fight’s second-round.
Eddie Alvarez has used his wrestling and clinch work to defeat formidable strikers in the past. Most notably former UFC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, who Alvarez outworked at UFC Fight Night 81 this past January on route to a split-decision victory.
Conor McGregor has predicted that he will be able to stop Eddie Alvarez within the bouts first five minutes and added that the finish will be a devastating one.
Meanwhile, Eddie Alvarez believes that Conor McGregor was his easiest possible opponent for what will be his first UFC lightweight title defense.
The former Bellator champion scored a first-round knockout over Rafael dos Anjos this past July to capture the UFC’s coveted 155-pound title.
