One big rumor that has been buzzing throughout the combat sports community is that Conor McGregor was knocked out during a recent sparring session.

Former boxing champion Jessie Vargas claims that he heard McGregor was knocked out in sparring and said that “the boxing world is small, it’s a small circle.”

While the rumor may have made Floyd Mayweather fans more comfortable, “Money” said that he doesn’t believe it unless he sees it with his own eyes.

“If I ain’t seen no footage, I don’t believe it,” Mayweather said to Fight Hype. “Everything is rumors until I see it. I have to actually, visually see it with my own eyes.”

While Mayweather wasn’t one to bite on the rumor, McGregor’s team confirmed that it was, in fact, just a rumor. McGregor’s management told Telegraph Sport, “the guy mentioned by Jessie Vargas is Brandon Rios, not Brad Wheeler. Neither have sparred with Conor.”

Rios confirmed that he has never sparred with McGregor and interestingly claimed that he didn’t even know who “The Notorious” was.

“The world’s gone crazy,” Rios told ES News.

“My phone’s been blowing up. I’ve been getting texts messages and calls about this. I’ve never met McGregor, and I don’t know who he is.”

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will meet in the boxing ring in Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena on August 26. The mega money fight will have two of the biggest stars from the world of boxing and mixed martial arts clash in the boxing ring under the Queensberry Rules. Many are predicting that Mayweather vs McGregor will surpass the numbers of Mayweather vs Pacquaio and be the richest fight in combat sports history.
