Three UFC stars nominated for 2016 ESPY Awards
Every year ESPN holds their annual ‘ESPY Awards’. This year, WWE superstar John Cena will be hosting the awards show, which goes down July 13th. The UFC will be well represented at the awards show, as 3 UFC stars have been nominated for awards at the highly anticipated event.
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor has been nominated for not only ‘Breakthrough Athlete’ but also ‘Best Fighter’.
Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm was nominated for ‘Best Play’ and ‘Best Upset’ for her UFC 193 knockout win over Ronda Rousey.
Last, but certainly not least, UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler has been nominated for ‘Best Fighter’.
McGregor is currently gearing up for his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz on August 20th. Similarly, Holly Holm is gearing up for her ‘UFC on FOX: Chicago’ scrap against Valentina Shevchenko on July 23rd. In addition, Robbie Lawler is gearing up for his UFC 201 title defense against Tyron Woodley.
