Tyron Woodley confident McGregor-Mayweather WILL happen
With talks of a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match currently dominating headlines in both the MMA community and the boxing community, everyone wants a piece of the action!
To kick off 2017, Mayweather made McGregor an offer to fight for $15 million. UFC President Dana White was quick to make an appearance on ‘The Herd’, where he made Mayweather a formal offer of $25 million to fight, explaining that the pair could discuss how the PPV sales would be split. Mayweather was quick to respond, calling White a “comedian” for what he believed to be a low-ball offer.
Now, in an interview with TMZ, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who is currently gearing up for his UFC 209 rematch with Stephen Thompson for the UFC welterweight championship, explained why he believes the fight between McGregor and Mayweather actually WILL happen. In addition, Woodley revealed how much it would take for him to step in the ring with Mayweather:
“I think this fight is going to happen. I think Conor’s underestimating the PPV. I think it’s going to be more than $15 million, he’s not going to get $100 million, we can guarantee that.”
“[This would be bigger than] any fight ever. I think what he should take into consideration that he might get $15-$20 million for the fight, he can get another $30 to $40 million on the backend. The endorsements would be unreal and ungodly. I do think the fight is gonna happen. I think it’s a personal issue, Floyd Mayweather’s like ‘I’m the money guy, I’m the first one to start making these tens and hundred million dollar paydays. You haven’t done that yet, so you don’t deserve it.'”
“Floyd, #1 I will be the grateful one, and I will take the $15 million. I would take the $5 million, 5% of PPV, and a couple watches in the bag to get the job done.”
