Current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and perennial lightweight contender Nate Diaz squared off for a second time in the main event of UFC 202 this past August in Las Vegas.
The Diaz vs. McGregor rematch lived up to the massive hype as the bitter rivals went to war for twenty-five minutes, with Conor McGregor eventually being award a majority decision win from the judges working the event.
The bout was awarded “fight of the night” honors at the UFC 202 post-fight press conference and is thought by many to be a “fight of the year” candidate.

However, that trilogy bout will have to wait, as Conor McGregor is currently set to headline UFC 205 in New York opposite lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

The brash Irish superstar has gone 8-1 during his UFC career, scoring stoppage victories in six of those eight wins.
Meanwhile, Nate Diaz has gone on record as saying that the only fight which will bring him back in to the octagon is a trilogy bout with Conor McGregor.
Following their epic battle at UFC 202 in Las Vegas, Conor McGregor stated that if he were to do a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz it would take place at 155-pounds, this after their first two encounters took place at welterweight (170-pounds).
