Cris Cyborg forgives Dana White, hoping to sign new UFC contract
Former Invicta FC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has had a very long, and tumultuous journey with the UFC. After finally being signed to the promotion last year, Cyborg competed at catchweight twice, before then being suspended by USADA for taking a pill to help her rehydrate. After being cleared of all wrongdoing by USADA, the stars finally aligned for the WMMA veteran to fight for the vacant women’s featherweight title.
After Cyborg’s title fight was announced UFC President Dana White publicly stated that the UFC had made some mistakes in regards to how they handled Cyborg’s fights, and that they owed it to her to get her a title fight.
Ahead of that fight this Saturday, Cyborg spoke at the UFC 214 open workouts to discuss the situation, as well as her future contract situation with the promotion:
“It’s really nice when someone does a mistake and then say that. A lot of people never say anything. I respect that. I think I can forgive him, but there’s a lot of consequences. There are a lot of things people say about me on the Internet, a lot of bad things I don’t want to remember now. But it’s hard to clean everything. But in time it’s going to change. He says he wants to change and work together. Let’s see. I’ll give it a chance and see how it’s going to work.

“We don’t know,” Justino said. “I want to work together. Let’s see how it’s going to work. I think we’ll keep talking, and I think maybe after this fight (we will sign a new contract).”
