Cris Cyborg responds to challenge from UFC Rochester winner Felicia Spencer
Former UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg knows who she wants to fight next. She also knows when and where she wants her next fight to happen.
Speaking on Twitter, the former champ issued a challenge to Canada’s Felicia Spencer, who dropped jaws by submitting former Invicta champ Megan Anderson on the main card of UFC Rochester over the weekend. Cyborg is hoping to meet the Canadian at UFC 240, which is scheduled for July 27 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

“July 27th Edmonton Canada,” Cyborg wrote on Twitter. “I have had one UFC fight in 15 months. Challenge accepted.”
As Cyborg’s Tweet reveals, Felicia Spencer was actually the first one to mention this matchup, telling TSN Aaron Bronsteter it’d be an honor to fight the former champion.
Cris Cyborg has not fought since December, when her decade long unbeaten streak came to a screeching halt when she was knocked out by UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the first round of a featherweight title super fight. While there was some talk of an immediate rematch between Cyborg and Nunes, Nunes is now booked to defend her bantamweight strap at UFC 239 on July 6. Clearly, Cyborg doesn’t plan on waiting around for the chance to reclaim the featherweight title. As she says in her Tweet, she’s fought just once in 15 months, and as a fighter who likes to stay active, that’s just not enough.
