Cub Swanson issues statement following second loss to Frankie Edgar
Perennial UFC featherweight contender Cub Swanson was looking for redemption when he squared off with former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar for a second time in the co-headliner of last night’s UFC Fight Night 128 event in Atlantic City.
Unfortunately for fans of “Killer Cub”, Frankie Edgar once again proved to have “The Answer” for Swanson, as the New Jersey native picked up a dominant three-round decision victory last night in front of his home crowd.
The loss served as Swanson’s second in a row, as he was previously defeated by top division contender Brian Ortega via submission.
Prior to the setbacks, the California native had strung together an impressive five fight win streak which had him in the conversation for a title shot.
Now after suffering losses to both Ortega and Edgar, Cub Swanson will likely need another solid win streak before being considered for any title shot opportunities.
Swanson took to his Instagram last night where he issued the following statement to his fans
“Well not the outcome I was looking for 😔 but that’s the fight game. Congrats Frankie & I’m sorry to hear about your father 🙏🏽 To all my supporters ‘Thank you so much & I promise to come back stronger!'” – Cub Swanson
