Curtis Blaydes has no plans to fight Ciryl Gane following his stunning UFC 299 KO victory.

Blaydes had a huge moment in the featured preliminary bout on the UFC 299 card. “Razor” went one-on-one with Jailton Almeida. While Almeida had success with his grappling in round one, it ended up being his downfall in the second stanza. Early in round two, Jailton went for a takedown, but Blaydes unloaded with a series of punches that put his opponent out.

It was an emphatic statement by Blaydes, and he isn’t about to follow up that momentum by sharing the Octagon with Gane.

Curtis Blaydes Not Down With Fighting Ciryl Gane Following UFC 299 Stunner

Curtis Blaydes spoke to media members following his finish over Jailton Almeida. While Blaydes seems to be focused on interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall, he will not be settling for Ciryl Gane at the moment (h/t Bloody Elbow).

“Nope, but it won’t be [Gane]. I feel like you guys are all trying to edge me towards Gane, that’s not happening,” Blaydes said.

Curtis went on to reveal why he isn’t interested in colliding with Gane at this time.

“I asked for him already in the past, he missed that bus,” Blaydes continued. “If it’s not Aspinall we’ll figure it out, I’m not going to make concrete decisions right now because I don’t know what’s going on – I haven’t even looked at my phone all day.”

Ultimately, the UFC will decide what happens next with Blaydes. The good news for “Razor” is that Aspinall has said he’d be willing to put his interim gold at stake against Blaydes to settle their unfinished business. The two had a 15-second fight back in 2022 when Aspinall suffered a knee injury that put him out of action for a year.
