Dan Henderson: I have unfinished business with Jon Jones
Former Strikeforce and Pride champion, Dan Henderson (29-9 MMA, 6-3 UFC), is 100 percent focused on his UFC 161 headliner with opponent Rashad Evans (17-3-1 MMA, 12-3-1 UFC). But, Hendo says he still has unfinished business with current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones:
“Obviously, that’s something that was supposed to happen last year and it didn’t. It’s more about, you know, one day I would like to fight Jon Jones. I feel like I have unfinished business there. But, I’ve been 100-percent focused on this fight (Rashad Evans). I’m not really concerned with what happens after.”
“Hendo” and “Bones” were supposed to fight for the UFC light heavyweight title last September, however, a knee injury forced Henderson to withdraw and the event (UFC 151) was eventually cancelled.
With a win over Evans on June 15, Henderson would likely move back in to title contention in the UFC’s 205lbs division. Although, he would likely have to win at least one more contest before earning a shot at light heavyweight kingpin Jon “Bones” Jones.
UFC 161 takes place Saturday June 15 live from the MTS Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
