Report: Dan Henderson to be put on UFC 199 card
Dan Henderson was fully prepared and ready to fight Lyoto Machida this weekend at UFC on FOX 19. Unfortunately, “Hendo” learned on Wednesday that he would not be fighting at all.
News broke that Machida declared the usage of a banned substance during an out-of-competition sample collection last week and would not be allowed to fight on Saturday.
With the fight date being so close, the UFC opted to take Henderson off the card despite having Tim Kennedy offer to step in on just a few days notice.
While Kennedy’s offer remains on the table, Sherdog reports that Henderson will be joining the UFC 199 card on June 4 at The Forum in Los Angeles, California. The report claims that “Hendo” will be matched up with Hector Lombard in a middleweight bout.
UFC 199 will feature a middleweight title rematch between champion Luke Rockhold and former champ Chris Weidman. Another title fight in the bantamweight division will be held as the co-main event with champion Dominick Cruz taking on Urijah Faber in their career rubber match. Our very own BJ Penn has also been recently added to the card who. “The Prodigy” is set to make his return to the Octagon to fight Dennis Siver in a featherweight bout.
