Dan Hooker has a ton of confidence heading into his UFC 290 fight against Jalin Turner. Hooker is coming off a TKO win over Claudio Puelles back in November and was supposed to face Turner in March. However, ‘The Hangman’ broke his hand and the fight was off. After Turner lost to Mateusz Gamrot in March, the two are set to rematch at UFC 290 in a pivotal fight for both men.

UFC lightweight contender Dan Hooker has explained why he disapproved of a fight with Tony Ferguson. ‘The Hangman’ has been out of the cage since a knockout win over Claudio Puelles last Fall. That victory was a massive one for the New Zealander, as it snapped a two-fight losing streak. Previously, Dan Hooker suffered lopsided defeats at the hands of Arnold Allen and Islam Makhachev.

Dana White recently announced that the BMF title is back up for grabs following Jorge Masvidal’s retirement and Dustin Poirier will take on Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 291 for the belt. Although Hooker’s main goal is to become the UFC lightweight champion, he says he still has some interest in fighting for the BMF belt.

Dan Hooker says USADA has been testing him more frequently since he came out and accused Islam Makhachev of cheating at UFC 284. After Makhachev beat Alexander Volkanovski by decision, Hooker accused Makhachev of using an IV to rehydrate after weigh-ins. However, there has been no proof of anything, and Hooker expects the UFC will try and punish him with some tough matchups going forward. Along with that, Hooker says USADA has been testing him more frequently since his comments.

Last month in Perth, Australia, Makhachev made the first defence of his lightweight championship in front of a hostile crowd. After being pushed by featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovsk for five rounds, the Dagestani was made to work for the victory.

However, on Wednesday, MMAFighting reported that Hooker has suffered a broken hand and is out of his fight. The hope is to keep Turner on the card and have a replacement opponent found.
