Colby Covington has a message for ‘Uncle Fester’ Dana White
Former UFC interim welterweight title holder Colby Covington is not happy with the Dana White and the UFC.
After capturing the promotions interim welterweight title by defeating former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos via decision at UFC 225, “Chaos” was stripped of his newly acquired belt by UFC President Dana White.
The brash UFC boss had explained the promotions decision to strip Covington during an interview with MMAJunkie.
“The way that the interim belt works is you fight for the interim belt, which means you get the next shot at the champion,” White said. “You’re an interim titleholder, and you get a shot at the champ when he’s ready – because the champ is out for whatever reason for however long. Woodley was back, Woodley was ready to fight and Colby wasn’t ready to fight. So we’re not going to hold up the thing with two belts for the champion. When the champion’s ready, you need to be ready to go. So as soon as one punch is thrown in this fight, it’s for the title.”
Still, after Tyron Woodley handed Darren Till his first career setback at UFC 228, it seemed that the UFC was still in favor of booking a fight between Colby Covington and “The Chosen One” next.
That all changed in November, this after Kamaru Usman scored a lopsided decision victory over the aforementioned “RDA”.
After the impressive performance from “The Nigerian Nightmare”, Dana White proclaimed that he was ready to move on from the proposed Covington vs. Woodley matchup.
Colby Covington was furious when news broke that the UFC had opted to “move on” and book a welterweight title fight between Usman and Woodley at UFC 235. He went as far as challenging the UFC to release him from his contract.
Most recently, Covington took to Twitter where he told ‘Uncle Fester’ Dana White to “listen to the people”.

“Listen to the people Uncle Fester! You can’t do the #birdboxchallenge forever!”
Multiple polls have been done by different outlets with all of the outcomes showing that fight fans are in favor of a Woodley vs. Covington matchup.
