Dana White ranks the top heavyweight boxers
Heavyweight boxing is the best it’s been in years. At the top, there are the likes of Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, and now Andy Ruiz Jr. who is coming off of a shocking knockout win over Joshua.
Although they all haven’t all fought each other, many rank them as the top-four. And, UFC president, Dana White agrees. In an interview with BT Sport, he decided to rank the four of them. There, he says Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight boxer right now.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t say that I disagree with that you know (ranking Tyson Fury as the top heavyweight). He looked great in the Wilder fight. Wilder crushed him with that shot he hit him with and he actually got back up which is crazy,” Dana White said. “When Wilder hits people they don’t get back up. He actually did. That Wilder-Tyson fight is a fun fight. Yeah, I’d say he, (Fury) is number one right now. It would be tough to not call him number one.”
The interviewer then asked Dana White if that means it goes Wilder, Ruiz Jr., and then Joshua, which White replied. “Yeah, you got it, 100 percent.”
‘It couldn’t be better’
“Now, you got four exciting, explosive guys with great personalities. Real punching power to finish fights,” the UFC boss later added. “It couldn’t be better.”
For the four of them, Tyson Fury is taking on Tom Schwarz this Saturday in his first fight since fighting Wilder. Meanwhile, Wilder is coming off a knockout win over Dominic Breazeale and is set to rematch Luis Ortiz in September. Should Wilder and Fury both win, a rematch between the two would take place in early 2020. For Joshua and Ruiz Jr., all signs point to them running that fight back after the shocking knockout loss for the Englishman.
