UFC’s Dana White admits he wants to book Tom Cruise vs. Justin Bieber fight: ‘It’s true’
Justin Bieber was only messing around when he called for a fight with actor Tom Cruise in the UFC’s Octagon. Yet the pop star’s words have snowballed to the point that UFC President Dana White has actually made a concerted effort to set the fight up.
“I should have known this was going to be the first question,” White, the guest speaker at at Hashtag Sports 2019, joked during a Q&A (via MMA Junkie). “Listen, if I can make that fight, I’d be all over that fight. It’d be the biggest pay-per-view in the history of pay-per-view.”
“It is true [that I’ve made an effort],” White added. “As crazy as that sounds, that is true. … I don’t want to use any names, but I was at home on a Sunday, and I got a call with two big guys on the phone. They were telling me this could possibly happen and this could be real. I’m like, there’s no way that this is really going to happen. But if it does, call me back. I’m in.”
As White stated so bluntly, a fight between Tom Cruise and Justin Bieber, two of the most visible celebrities on earth, would shatter all previous pay-per-view records.
“Oh my god, it would be massive,” White said. “It would be massive. Everybody laughed when we talked about this, so you’ve heard of it. Who wouldn’t watch that? Everybody would watch it. It’s a complete train wreck, and I love it, and I’m in. I’m in. …
“I can’t even believe this is what we’re talking about right now.”
All that being said, Justin Bieber did walk back his callout of Tom Cruise after the fact, admitting he’d probably lose the fight — which is just what the oddsmakers think would happen.
Do you think Dana White can work his magic and make this fight happen?
