Daniel Cormier slams fight fan for suggesting his commentary was biased during Ortega vs. Volkanosvki fight at UFC 266

Adam D Martin - September 26, 2021

UFC analyst Daniel Cormier slammed a fight fan for suggesting his commentary was biased during the Ortega vs. Volkanosvki fight at UFC 266. Cormier was in the commentary booth for UFC 266 alongside former lightweight fighter Paul Felder and UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik. Typically, Joe Rogan is the third man in the booth, but he was unable to work this event due to a previous booking. Either way, Felder filled in alongside DC and the two seemed to do a good job overall of commentating. However, it appears as though some fans are not pleased with Cormier’s commentating.

Christopher Taylor - September 18, 2021

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier explained why he was happy that Jon Jones didn’t hug him after their first fight. Cormier (22-3 MMA) and Jones (26-1 MMA) originally collided at UFC 182 in January of 2015. That evening in Las Vegas, ‘Bones’ outpointed ‘DC’ on route to a unanimous decision victory.

Gable Steveson thanks former UFC champions Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo for recent praise

Adam D Martin - September 3, 2021

Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson thanked former UFC champions Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo for their recent praise of him. Steveson won the gold medal in Tokyo this summer in men’s freestyle wrestling (125kgs division). Not only did Steveson dominate the tournament with his powerful wrestling skills, but he also became a bit of a media sensation because of his look and personality. There are a lot of people who now believe that Steveson should make the move to either MMA or to WWE. Both of them would be natural transitions for Steveson, who would be following in the footsteps of other former Olympians such as Cejudo and Cormier, among others.

Conor McGregor squashes beef with Daniel Cormier: "Respect Daniel, carry on, God bless"

Adam D Martin - August 26, 2021

UFC superstar Conor McGregor has seemingly squashed his beef with Daniel Cormier, tweeting out to “respect Daniel, carry on, God bless.” McGregor has been taking some shots on social media as of late at several other fighters, and Cormier was one of the ones who he had some critical things to say about, including suggesting that DC was intoxicated before a pre-UFC 264 media event. It looks like the Irishman and DC are finally squashing their beef, however. On Wednesday, Cormier took to his podcast with Ryan Clark to release his list of the top-five must-see fighters in UFC history, and the man who was at the top of the list was McGregor. It was seemingly an example of DC extending an olive brand, and it looks like McGregor has accepted it.

Taking to his own podcast to defend Cormier, Bisping then told McGregor that DC would “rip him limb from limb” if the two ever met in the Octagon. During a Q&A session with fans on Sunday evening, one fan asked McGregor what he thought about Bisping’s recent comments. The Irishman replied to the poster, though he later deleted the comment. Check out what “Notorious” said in response to Bisping below.

Jon Jones poses the most "problems" for Ciryl Gane at heavyweight, says Daniel Cormier

Cole Shelton - August 12, 2021

Ciryl Gane just recently claimed the interim heavyweight title and will face Francis Ngannou next, yet for Daniel Cormier, he believes Jon Jones poses the biggest problem for him. Gane is a perfect 10-0 in MMA and has dominated everyone he has fought. Against Lewis, he didn’t let the hometown fighter get going and just picked him apart en route to a third-round stoppage. It was a dominant performance but for Cormier, he believes Jones has all the tools to pose problems for the Frenchman.

Paul Felder replaces Daniel Cormier in commentary booth for UFC 263

Adam D Martin - June 9, 2021

Former UFC lightweight contender Paul Felder has replaced Daniel Cormier in the commentary booth for this weekend’s UFC 263 pay-per-view card. The typical commentary team for UFC pay-per-view cards features Cormier and Joe Rogan as analysts and Jon Anik as the play-by-play man. For UFC 263, however, the promotion has decided to make one change, as Cormier is out of the booth for this event and Felder is in. MMAjunkie.com first reported on the change in the booth. Cormier said earlier this week that he has a family commitment this weekend, which is why he is not working the event.

Adam D Martin - May 25, 2021

UFC legend Daniel Cormier reflected on his mauling of Dan Henderson at UFC 173, saying that “I love my boy Hendo, but this was crazy.” In what was his fourth UFC bout at the time, and his second fight at 205lbs, Cormier took on Henderson in the co-main event of UFC 173: Barao vs. Dillashaw in May 2014. In what was a complete mauling, Cormier was able to throw Henderson to the floor with an incredible slam. Seven years after the fight and Cormier posted a throwback video on his social media where he reminisced about one of the best victories of his MMA career.

Daniel Cormier scolds Texas judges for their scoring of Chandler vs. Oliveira fight: “How in the world are you scoring that 10-8”

Adam D Martin - May 18, 2021

Daniel Cormier scolded the Texas judges for their scoring of the Michael Chandler vs. Charles Oliveira fight for two 10-8 rounds. Cormier was sitting Octagon-side along with UFC commentator Jon Anik and analyst Joe Rogan at UFC 262 this past Saturday night in Houston, Texas. The main event of the evening saw Oliveira knock out Chandler in the second round to become the new UFC lightweight champion, but he’s fortunate he was able to finish the fight and now have the judges involved. After the fight was over, it was revealed that two of the three judges gave 10-8 to Chandler in the first round despite Oliveira having his back during the round.

Daniel Cormier weighs in on Tony Ferguson’s future following latest loss: “Ferguson, as a top-level mixed martial artist, is done”

Adam D Martin - May 18, 2021

Daniel Cormier weighed in on Tony Ferguson’s future following his last loss, saying “Ferguson, as a top-level mixed martial artist, is done.” Ferguson is coming off of a lopsided loss to Beneil Dariush at UFC 262 this past weekend, his third straight loss following a unanimous decision defeat to Charles Oliveira in his last fight and a TKO defeat to Justin Gaethje before that. While Ferguson had a 12-fight winning streak heading into 2020, he has since gone 0-3 and has lost his last 11 rounds in a row. It feels like Ferguson has really lost a step, and there are some suggestions he might be completely done. Cormier is one of those who believes that he has nothing left.
