Cole Shelton - September 27, 2018
It was reported earlier that UFC President Dana White is pursuing a Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson matchup for UFC 232. The matchup would presumably be for the interim light heavyweight title, but another layer to the matchmaking process has now been revealed. Before working on this Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson rematch, the UFC wanted to book a heavyweight title fight between Jones and reigning champion Daniel Cormier. This per ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Tom Taylor - September 17, 2018
Darren Till’s shot at UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley did not go the way he planned. Instead, the young British challenger was dropped by Woodley in the second round, and quickly submitted with a D’arce choke thereafter. Speaking to his cage-side broadcast partners Joe Rogan and Jon Anik shortly after this fight concluded, UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier detailed what he believed was a major tactical error on Darren Till’s part.
Daniel Cormier replies to Jon Jones' latest Twitter barb: "That's actually a good one"
Tom Taylor - September 5, 2018
Over the last few days, UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones have been involved in a heated quarrel on social media. One of the latest verbal volleys came from Jon Jones, who claimed that his 2017 knockout of Cormier was the result of strategy and timing, not the result of steroid use.
Jon Jones calls for two more fights with Daniel Cormier, Cormier fires back
Tom Taylor - September 4, 2018
If former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has his way, his current USADA situation will soon be squared away, and he’ll fight his arch rival Daniel Cormier two more times: once to reclaim the light heavyweight belt, and once to capture the heavyweight title. “My vision is fighting him at light heavyweight first,” Jones said of Daniel Cormier in a recent interview with RT Sport (transcript via MMA Fighting). “I think that beating him a third time would really do something to his confidence. In his head, I feel like he thinks he can still beat me, especially because the fight was going fairly well until I knocked him out. I want to crush his confidence…
Jon Jones: 'I had to find a place in my heart to be happy' for Daniel Cormier after UFC 226
Drake Riggs - September 4, 2018
When fighters find themselves embroiled in heated rivalries, they forever end up intertwined with one another. Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier are no exceptions to that. The history between the two is clear yet ugly all at the same time. Jones was the once ruler of the 205-pound division but due to his own doing, he no longer is able to compete as actively as we expected him to be doing so from 2015 to now.
Daniel Cormier still plans to defend light heavyweight belt, but admits it will be "difficult"
Tom Taylor - August 28, 2018
Back in July, at UFC 226, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier moved back up to the heavyweight division, and knocked out Stipe Miocic to capture the divisional title. Despite the fact that he ballooned up in size for this fight with Miocic, Cormier says he still plans to head south to defend the light heavyweight title before he retires in March.
Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar feud will grow on MMA fans
Jordy McElroy - August 22, 2018
The lingering fallout from the officially—or, technically unofficially—announced fight between two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier and former WWE and UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has brought about a mixed bag of pandemonium within the MMA community. Some fans have completely bought into the crossover feud and Lesnar’s immense marketability in the combat sports world. Others see it as a rehearsed and inauthentic ploy at a quick cash grab for a future pay-per-view card.
Curtis Blaydes wants Stipe Miocic, then Daniel Cormier, then Jon Jones
Tom Taylor - August 10, 2018
If all goes according to the UFC’s plan, the next crack at UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will go to former champion and WWE star Brock Lesnar. While a Cormier vs. Lesnar fight is almost certain to do big business, it’s caused a bit of a headache for the UFC’s top heavyweight contenders, such as Curtis Blaydes. Blaydes, like many members of the MMA community, feels that Lesnar doesn’t belong anywhere near a UFC heavyweight title shot. Lesnar, of course, hasn’t won a fight since 2010, when he choked out Shane Carwin. Though there was briefly a win over Mark Hunt on his record in 2016, that win was overturned when he tested positive for a banned substance.
Daniel Cormier says he will rematch Stipe Miocic if Brock Lesnar isn't available
Tom Taylor - August 5, 2018
Daniel Cormier’s first defense of the UFC heavyweight title is expected to pit him against former champion and WWE star Brock Lesnar. In order for this fight to happen, of course, Lesnar will have to serve the remainder of a USADA-administered suspension, and pass a battery of new drug tests. So far, Lesnar’s drug testing regimen has gone off without a hitch (he’s already been tested three times). That said, the hulking former champion’s skeptics remain numerous, and Daniel Cormier seems to be among their numbers.
Conor McGregor calls himself "the only undisputed Champ Champ"
Tom Taylor - July 31, 2018
When UFC lightweight champion Daniel Cormier knocked out then heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 226, he became one of just two men in UFC history to wear gold in two divisions concurrently. The other is Conor McGregor, who held the UFC featherweight and lightweight titles simultaneously in 2016. Apparently, however, Conor McGregor still considers himself the only undisputed champ-champ. Speaking to TMZ this week, McGregor eluded to the fact that he does not consider Daniel Cormier a true two-division champion — perhaps because Cormier never actually captured the light heavyweight title from former champion Jon Jones.

Tom Taylor - July 30, 2018

Between now and then, however, Cormier plans to defend his light heavyweight title, most likely before the year is out. When it comes to opponents for his next light heavyweight title fight, there are three clear frontrunners. They are: Corey Anderson, Ilir Latifi and Anthony Smith — since Cormier is not interested in fighting Alexander Gustafsson.

Anderson Silva responds to Daniel Cormier excluding him from GOAT conversation
Tom Taylor - July 24, 2018
Earlier this week, UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier suggested that fighters like Anderson Silva and Jon Jones should not be mentioned when debating the greatest fighters in MMA history on the basis of the failed drug tests in their pasts. “Demetrious [Johnson], Georges St-Pierre, these guys have none of these bad things tied to their names and these are the guys I should share the conversation with,” Cormier said on Slip n’ Dip Podcast. “I’ve never had any negatives and I’ve never had to go in front of any commission and explain why my test came up messed up. That’s why I should be in the conversation because I’ve done things the correct way.”

Anthony Smith explains how Daniel Cormier accidentally raised the stakes of Shogun fight
Tom Taylor - July 17, 2018
Daniel Cormier, who now owns the UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight titles, recently stated that he’d like to squeeze in a light heavyweight title defense before he defends his heavyweight title against Brock Lesnar in the new year. Specifically, Cormier is interested in defending his light heavyweight belt against former champion and MMA legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Shogun, of course, is scheduled for a fight with the extremely dangerous Anthony Smith this weekend, yet Cormier didn’t mention Smith’s name. Initially, Smith was pretty disappointed with the way Cormier ignored him, but now, he feels as though Cormier has added to the stakes of his fight with Shogun
