Thomas Taylor - June 25, 2018
Late last week, UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC 226 heavyweight title challenger Daniel Cormier claimed that his arch rival Jon Jones no longer has a platform in the MMA world. “[Jones] doesn’t have a platform and I refuse to give him a platform,” Cormier told CBS Sports. “He’s a nobody. He has been suspended again. He’s mired in controversy for drug abuse. Your issues are tied to steroids, performance enhancers. You don’t get a platform when you’re like that. It’s like me glorifying Lance Armstrong.”

Daniel Cormier fires back at Jon Jones after GOAT comments: "he's a nobody"
Thomas Taylor - June 24, 2018
If you ask former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier has no place in MMA’s Greatest of all Time debate. Jones made his opinions on the matter abundantly clear earlier this week, replying to a Tweet from the official UFC Twitter account, and arguing that Cormier’s name should not be mentioned when attempting to identify the GOAT in MMA. what have you done for me lately? Jon Jones weighs in on Daniel Cormier's claim to GOAT status
Tom Taylor - June 21, 2018
If reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier topples Stipe Miocic at UFC 226, he’ll capture the UFC heavyweight belt, become one of just two fighters in UFC history to wear two belts concurrently, and in the eyes of many fans, cement himself as one of the sport’s best ever. Jon Jones, the only man to defeat Cormier, doesn’t share that feeling.
Daniel Cormier has an interesting idea for Yoel Romero's next fight
Tom Taylor - June 10, 2018
Last night, in the main event of UFC 225, Yoel Romero gave up a competitive — and somewhat controversial — split decision to reigning UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. With this result, Romero falls to 0-2 against the current champ, which represents a tough situation for any contender. Romero’s situation looks even more uncertain when you consider the fact that he has now missed the 185-pound limit for middleweight title fights on two separate occasions. When it comes to options for the 41-year-old Cuban’s next fight, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has one of the more interesting ideas. He thinks Romero should head north to the light heavyweight division, where he’ll have to endure a less taxing cut, to battle long-time contender Alexander Gustafsson to establish a true light heavyweight champion in the division. This is a particularly interesting idea given that Cormier is currently tied up with a looming heavyweight title shot opposite Stipe Miocic, which leaves Gustafsson without a worthy adversary.
Yoel Romero is interested in moving to light heavyweight to battle Daniel Cormier
Tom Taylor - June 7, 2018
This weekend, in the main event of UFC 225, Yoel Romero will battle Robert Whittaker for the UFC middleweight title. From the sounds of it, this might not be the only title fight in Romero’s future. Speaking at a UFC 225 media scrum, Romero was asked about the possibility of moving up to the 205-pound light heavyweight division for a battle with divisional champion Daniel Cormier, a fellow Olympic wrestler. Apparently, he’s into the idea.

Daniel Cormier feels there's more on the line at UFC 226 than the heavyweight title
Tom Taylor - May 16, 2018
At UFC 226, which goes down on July 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada, reigning UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier will return to his former haunts in the heavyweight division for a battle with divisional kingpin Stipe Miocic. If Cormier topples this momentous challenge, he’ll have to make room on his crowded mantle — which is already home to several UFC light heavyweight belts and a Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix belt — for a UFC heavyweight belt. Yet for the American Kickboxing Academy staple, there’s far more on the line at UFC 226 then another gold belt. In his eyes, the winner of his bout with Miocic could easily be considered the best pound-for-pound fighter alive.
Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier have finally found some common ground
Tom Taylor - April 24, 2018
Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier share perhaps the most high profile beef in MMA. The two light heavyweight greats, who have fought twice previously, really can’t stand each other. Daniel Cormier on Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor: "It’s going to happen"
Tom Taylor - April 18, 2018
There are several options on the table for the first title defense of new UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. One is Dustin Poirier, who says he’s been contacted by Nurmagomedov’s camp to discuss a title fight. Another is Tony Ferguson, who’s been scheduled to fight Nurmagomedov a whopping four times to no avail in the past. And then, of course, there’s former UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor, who’s beef with Nurmagomedov is currently absolutely sizzling. Whether it serves as Nurmagomedov’s first title defense or not, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier believes a Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor fight will happen in the near future. Given that he’s both a long-time Nurmagomedov training partner and a UFC analyst, Cormier’s confidence in this matchup occurring is certainly interesting.
Alexander Gustafsson feels beating Jon Jones is a bigger accomplishment than winning the belt
Tom Taylor - April 17, 2018

Regrettably for him, Cormier is headed back up to the heavyweight division, where his career began, to battle reigning heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Speaking on The JRE MMA Show this week, Gustafsson explained his frustration with Cormier’s temporary departure from the division. He feels the absentee champion has put the division he rules in limbo.

Tom Taylor - April 16, 2018
On July 7, in the main event of UFC 226, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will return to the heavyweight division to battle reigning champion Stipe Miocic. If Cormier is successful in this momentous showdown, he’ll become the UFC heavyweight champion, which will of course open the door to more massive opportunities in the division. Of those opportunities, its arguable that none would be bigger than a showdown with former UFC heavyweight champ and current WWE star Brock Lesnar—something UFC President Dana White has recently alluded to.
