Jones defeated OSP via unanimous decision to claim the interim light heavyweight championship. While Jones did win the fight, he wasn’t thrilled with his performance, and neither was Daniel Cormier. Jones chalked his hesitance up to a late change of opponents, throwing off his gameplan.

Matt Hamill is the only one that has a win over Jones on record, but that came after Hamill was brutalized by elbows from Jones that were ruled illegal. The illegal elbows by Jones caused him to be controversially disqualified from the bout, resulting in his only loss, which was back in 2009. The UFC booked Ovince Saint Preux as a replacement opponent for Jones, and made the bout an interim title fight. Assuming Jon Jones wins the fight, Daniel Cormier would like to have his rematch with the pound for pound king ASAP.

Saint Preux, who serves as a replacement for an injured Cormier politely declined the champ’s offer saying, “Definitely appreciate the invitation, but I think with everything we’ve got going on over here… My coach came up with a solid game plan and I think we definitely gonna be okay.”
