Earlier today it was announced that a UFC light heavyweight title fight rematch between current champ Daniel Cormier and interim title holder Jon Jones would headline July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event in Las Vegas. The two bitter rivals were in attendance at today’s UFC 200 press conference and it didn’t take long for things to get heated.

This past weekend UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones made his return to the Octagon against Ovince Saint Preux in the main event of UFC 197. Jones defeated OSP via unanimous decision to claim the interim light heavyweight championship. While Jones did win the fight, he wasn’t thrilled with his performance, and neither was Daniel Cormier. Jones chalked his hesitance up to a late change of opponents, throwing off his gameplan.

Jon “Bones” Jones became the UFC’s interim light heavyweight champion Saturday night in Las Vegas after earning a unanimous decision victory over Ovince Saint Preux in the evening’s main event. Jones was able to control the fight with “OSP” for the entire five-rounds, however many fans and analysts were not overly impressed with Jon’s performance.

The UFC booked Ovince Saint Preux as a replacement opponent for Jones, and made the bout an interim title fight. Assuming Jon Jones wins the fight, Daniel Cormier would like to have his rematch with the pound for pound king ASAP.
