Speaking on MMAFighting.com’s Eurobash podcast recently, Till was asked if he had heard Adesanya call him a “p**sy” for jesting that he is afraid to fight Yoel Romero.

Jared Cannonier and Darren Till have one thing in common, and that is their choice of nicknames. “The Killa Gorilla” Cannonier and “The Gorilla” Till have another thing in common too, they are both eyeing a shot at the middleweight title. He suspects the champion Adesanya will retain his title, but seems leery of offending Romero, who he considers a “monster.”

So, Till changed his focus from fighting ‘The Killa Gorilla’ to being the backup/replacement fighter for Israel Adesanya vs. Yoel Romero at UFC 248.

Till, of course, was expected to fight Jared Cannonier on the UFC 248 card, but the fight fell through due to a combination of visa issues, contract gripes and ultimately, a Cannonier injury.

UFC middleweight contender Darren Till says he has accepted the fight against Jared Cannonier for the upcoming UFC 248 card in March. Till was set to fight Cannonier after Robert Whittaker withdrew the fight but UFC president Dana White said Till injured his ankle and had to be removed from the card. That left Cannonier without an opponent, and White confirmed on the weekend that he would still have Cannonier making weight for the card just in case anything happens to the headliners, UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.

After Robert Whittaker, Cannonier’s original opponent, pulled out due to personal reasons many assumed Till would be the logical replacement and it was announced he was. But, he injured his ankle and UFC president Dana White said that fight was off.

Till took to social media to let everyone know he will fight anyone after news came out he was out against Jared Cannonier at UFC 248. Although he had an ankle injury, some fans on social media claimed the Englishman was scared of the fight which he clapped back on.

Till this week was revealed as the replacement opponent for Robert Whittaker, who pulled out of UFC 248 due to personal issues. However, the UFC is once again looking for a new opponent for Cannonier because Till is also injured. According to White, Till injured his ankle and is out of UFC 248.

He encouraged Cerrone and his team not to sleep on McGregor — having heard Cerrone’s coach claim that McGregor has nothing more to offer than a good left hand — and went on to predict McGregor will win early.
