Michael Bisping believes Darren Till can turn the tide in his young career. After going 17-0-1 in his first 18 professional bouts, Till was given a UFC welterweight title shot against Tyron Woodley. Big wins over Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson caught the attention of UFC officials and once Colby Covington underwent nasal surgery, Till was given the shot at gold. He fell short, suffering a second-round submission loss to Woodley.

At the end of their 25 minute meeting, England’s Till was named the winner via decision — though many fans disagreed with that verdict. At the time of their meeting, Thompson and Till stood out as two of the top contenders in the UFC welterweight division. Today, however, the pair are both riding brutal, one-punch knockout losses. Thompson came up short more recently, after absorbing a bomb from former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis. Till tasted defeated just before that, when he was thumped by Jorge Masvidal.

It’s no secret that Darren Till endures a brutal cut down to the 171-pound welterweight limit. While he’s hit that mark on many occasions, he’s also missed weight several times. Given the difficulty Till has had cutting down to welterweight in the recent past, many fight fans have encouraged him to move up to the middleweight. Speaking on his official Twitter account, which he recently reactivated, Till offered to step in against Robbie Lawler in the UFC Minneapolis main event. His only stipulation is that the fight be contested at 175 pounds rather than 170 as originally planned.

Darren Till is keeping a low profile. Following his recent arrest in Spain for allegedly trashing a hotel room and stealing a taxi, the former UFC welterweight title challenger has deactivated both his personal Twitter and Instagram accounts. The 26-year-old didn’t serve any time or face any serious legal issues for the incident. However he did receive a heavy fine which included €10,000 ($11,150 USD) to the Costa Adeje hotel, €480 ($525 USD) for hotel damages and €360 ($401 USD) for theft of the taxi cab.

Till, who is coming off a brutal knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal, is said to have been stopped by police after jumping into a cab and speeding off as the driver was handling luggage.
