Darren Till claps back at 'hillbilly' Ben Askren

Tom Taylor - October 25, 2018

At long last, it seems that former ONE and Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren could be headed to the UFC. While it’s not official just yet, he’s already rattling the cages of many of the UFC’s top welterweights.  One of the first UFC welterweights that Ben Askren set his sights on was Darren Till, who recently came up short in a title fight with Askren’s training partner Tyron Woodley.

Darren Till announces he is moving to middleweight, but welterweight return is possible

Tom Taylor - October 3, 2018

After struggling with the cut down to the welterweight division’s 170-pound limit, and losing his long-awaited title fight with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, Darren Till says he is headed up to the middleweight division. “I’m a big dude for welterweight to be honest, so that’s probably going to be my last fight at that weight,” Darren Till said in an article he penned for PaddyPower. “Welterweight isn’t fully gone for me, but I’m going to be happy going up to middleweight now and I’ll be strong at that weight not having to cut as much weight.”

Nutritionist is confident Darren Till can hit 170 pounds "with ease" for years to come

Tom Taylor - September 13, 2018

One of the big worries ahead of UFC 228 was that main event title challenger Darren Till might not make the 170-pound limit for his fight with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. The Brit had missed weight previously, after all, most recently for his May welterweight bout with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. In the end, of course, Darren Till did even better than hit the 170-pound limit for welterweight title fights. He surpassed it, tipping the scales with a pound to spare at 169 pounds, instantly silencing his legions of doubters and skeptics.

Darren Till issues statement after submission loss to Tyron Woodley

Tom Taylor - September 9, 2018

On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 228, Liverpool’s Darren Till stepped into the Octagon with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, keen to take the welterweight belt for himself. Unfortunately for Till and his legions of fans, this fight did not go the way he planned. Instead, he was dropped and submitted by the champion in the bout’s second round. Having failed to capture the UFC welterweight title — and experienced the first defeat of his professional MMA career — it’s now back to the drawing board for Darren Till. While this loss is bound to be a tough pill to swallow, however, he seems to be in reasonably good spirits, all things considered.

Darren Till's nutritionist is "110 percent" confident he'll make weight for UFC 228 main event

Tom Taylor - September 6, 2018

This Saturday, in the main event of UFC 228, undefeated British contender Darren Till will battle Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight title — that is, if Till makes weight. Till has failed to make the welterweight division’s weight limit in the past, and heading into this fight with Woodley, there’s been widespread worry he’ll miss his mark again, which would make him illegible to win the title. In the opinion of Till’s nutritionist, Eoghan Gallagher, a protege of famed MMA nutritionist George Lockhart, there’s no cause for concern with respect with Till’s weight cut. Speaking to MMA Fighting at the UFC 228 fighter hotel in Dallas, Texas this week, Gallagher assured he’s “110 percent” sure Till will be on weight on this fight.

Rafael dos Anjos makes predictions for UFC 228 and UFC 229 main events

Tom Taylor - September 6, 2018

This Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 228, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will attempt to defend his title opposite undefeated British challenger Darren Till. Rafael dos Anjos, who is one of the top contenders in the crowded UFC welterweight division, will be watching this fight closely. For Rafael dos Anjos, the outcome of this fight could come down to whether or not Till makes weight. This is something Till has struggled with before, and the reason dos Anjos doesn’t think he deserves a title shot. At the end of the day, however, he believes Woodley will probably retain the title.

Darren Till discusses future move to middleweight, says he's not interested in fighting Yoel Romero

Tom Taylor - September 3, 2018

This weekend, in the main event of UFC 228, undefeated Brit Darren Till will attempt to swipe the UFC welterweight title from the waist of reigning champion Tyron Woodley. From the sounds of it, this could be one of Till’s final fights in the welterweight division. Though Till assures he will defend the title if he wins it at UFC 228, he also admits that a move to the 185-pound middleweight division is probably inevitable.

Darren Till only anticipates "slight" size advantage over Tyron Woodley at UFC 228

Tom Taylor - September 2, 2018

Darren Till, who will battle Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 228 on September 8, is huge for the welterweight division. So huge that he appeared to dwarf Woodley when they met face to face at a press conference this month. Speaking at a media scrum earlier this week, Darren Till admitted that even he was a little surprised by how much he towered over the reigning welterweight champion.

Tom Taylor - August 29, 2018

On September 8, in the main event of UFC 228 in Dallas, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will attempt to defend his title against undefeated contender Darren Till. At least, that’s the plan… As we’ve seen time and time again, no matchup is safe until the both fighters are locked in the cage. Darren Till updates on UFC 228 weight cut: "It's been tough on me"

Tom Taylor - August 29, 2018

Darren Till missed weight for his last fight, a May decision defeat of Stephen Thompson. As a result, he’s got a lot of eyes on him as he prepares for his UFC 228 title fight with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. If he misses weight again, after all, he will not be eligible to win the title. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Till did not deny that his cut down to the welterweight division’s 170-pound limit has been miserable. That said, he seems to be on track.
